Fantastic! Very entertaining. The actor is AMAZINGLY talented. Singing, telling stories, playing various musical instrument. It was an evening of bliss. His overall message was very enlightening and positive. *
absolutely loved it. what a talent. *
Susan M
It was laughter and tears and one of the best shows any of us have ever seen. It's still playing on Saturday. DON'T MISS IT. *
What talent!!! This is the most sincere performance my husband has ever been to. I am recommending it to everyone I know. The messages are universal, everyone can relate, not just East Coast Ashkanazis (although it may hit home for them even more so). It's funny, it's heartfelt and you walk away with a great feeling. I've never seen such a talented one-man show EVER! It brought back many good memories and I think it's important for everyone, esp. if you are Jewish to see and support. *
This one man play was right on the money! Jake Ehrenreich was able to bring me back to my summers in the Catskills (some of my happiest memories). He is so talented- storyteller, singer, musician. The 11/2 hour play flew by. Thank you Jake! *
Jake is an incredible talent. 90 minutes of non-stop entertainment as he wittily & poignantly tells his biographical story, which incidentally, you don't have to be a child of Holocaust survivors, from Brooklyn, or even Jewish to relate to, or to thoroughly enjoy. The script & its delivery are so natural it feels more like he's invited the audience to talk rather than to watch a perfectly-rehearsed performance. You cant help but like Jake from the outset. His warm & genuine personality is apparent, and totally consistent with his after-show talk session with audience members. In brief, a "Must see".
We really enjoyed everything about the show. Jake is very talented, and he tells a beautiful story, filled with laughter, and some tears. *
warm, funny, smart *
I went with a group of five, and we all loved the show. It was a loving tribute to the author's family. The star was talented, personable and showed a great enthusiasm for what he presented. He had a great rapport with the audience. *
I TOOK MY WIFE AND HER SISTER TO THIS SHOW AND WE ALL THOUGHT THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS WE HAVE SEEN IN YEARS. I FEEL IT IS A MUST FOR EVERYONE. *
It was nostalgia for us, we have been through so many of the same situations that Jake has. He is an icon, a singer, comedian, musician and story teller. What more can you ask
* Alan A.
This was a magnificent show- one of the most talented showman I've ever seen- in every area- including the WRITING of this inspirational, thought-provoking, life-affirming show. BRAVO *
Had an enjoyable evening and laughed a lot. Great fun. *
VERY Entertaining. *

It is like a biorgraphy, told by one actor, who is funny, sensitive and touches the heart of Jewish and immigrants alike. *
Very enjoyable. *
Jake Ehrenreich is a multi-talented, extremely
engaging performer. His story is a different
"take" on the typical Jewish "coming of age"
story. It is very personal yet quite universal
as a tale of being an "other" in an established
society; wanting to be mainstream while valuing
one's heritage. *
Great performance, thoroughly enjoyed it as did my 90 yr old mother who was raised in Brooklyn. *
We had a fabulous time. We're still laughing
remembering some of the jokes. Jake is an
amazing performer and wish the event was
extended *
what a wonderful experience, the star was attractive, talented, lots of fun, seemed to be having lots of fun himself...clever staging, good music and a very personal theatre experience. Recommend seeing this show for a great time. *

THEIR EMOTIONS AND PASS IT TO THEIR CHILDREN THE
SHOW WAS EXCELLENT IT WAS FULL OF EMOTIONS BUT

Wonderful show. Funny, entertaining, poignant, great taste and class. A thoroughly enjoyable show. Took me back to my youth in New York. The bit about the Catskills was hysterical. As soon as I got home, I pulled out my Bar Mitzvah album and found almost the identical picture Jake showed! *
I highly recommend A Jew Grows in Brooklyn. It is a one man show telling of his family and their life in New York after surviving the Holocaust. It's informative, historical, and a pleasure to watch. Each one in the audience feels that Mr. Ehrenreich is a friend of his, and is being told his fascinating family history . This is a must-see play! *
Very talented, funny and good looking guy who brought us pack in time. Very enjoyable. His choice of music and ability to play music were also great. *
The show was fantastic, excellent, laughed the entire time, couldn't be better. Thank you. *
Funny and heartwarming, we both enjoyed it worth seeing *
I saw the show twice in one week. It was
heartfelt, hilarious and addicting. I plan on
returning for the final week and taking more
friends. *
I loved it! It was entertaining, fast moving, and filled with incredible moments of reminders of life in Brooklyn and the Catskills. *
It was fantastic. Jake was phenomenal in his one-man show. I could see this over and over. It was funny, touching, sad, and happy. He is incredibly talented, being a comedian, a singer, playing a multitude of musical instruments, doing impersonations, and telling his own life story in a most sincere, heart-grabbing way. *
Talented, creative, Jake Ehrenreich's performance was sweet and engaging. *
It was everything you could want in a play. From funny, sad, romantic. He was absolutely amazing!! *
It was great. He's very talented. *
This is a warm, funny autobiographical one man show. He is an amazing talent and does it all. Storytelling, singing, dancing and playing many musical instruments in a fast paced show. Go see it!!! *
Very entertaining. Jake is extremely talented. The show was well written and flowed smoothly in a logical fashion. You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this musical/storytelling play. *

Lots of energy and talent. Good jokes. Good memories. A fun night! *
It was like a family reunion for the entire audience! Jake spoke of things we knew, sang songs we recalled and brought back memories we cherished. We laughed, we cried and we loved every moment! *

Show was fabulous!!!!!! Jake is wonderful and
makes you feel like *
this was a touching and nostalgic (in a good way) reflection on the life of a first generation jewish american. i found it sweet and could identify with much of his humor, experiences and longings. *
A must for Jews growing up in New York and for those who would like to share the experiences so many Jewish families shared. *
We laughed until we cried! It was a non-stop great show from beginning to end. Jake Ehrenreich is an incredibly talented actor...with lots of good energy, fabulous comedic timing, beautiful voice, terrific musician. He connected with the audience and we "felt the love"! The concept was wonderful, and the music - songs and band - was excellent! And the theater was comfortable - every seat in the house is good. No...I don't work for the theater or for Jake! *
Jake is a great one man show! *
EXCELLENT. very real and entertaining. THE ACTOR IS TERRIFIC ,VERY TALENTED. i have recommended to others to see it. *

This is charming and witty show about the writer and actor's family and his experience as first generation kid from Holocaust survivors. It has it's sad moments, but what a wonderful way to memorialize your family. I highly recommend this show. *
Totally enjoyable evening. Mr. Ehrenreich is multi talented and his performance contained the perfect balance of humor and humanity. He is very funny and and an excellent singer. We came home trying to remember as many of the jokes as we could. *

Wonderful, entertaining evening with a multi-talented performer. *
A warm, touching true story, beautifully told in acting, song and music by a talented actor/singer. Go see! *
We decided at the last minute to get tickets, sat in the rear orchestra, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the show! The auditorium is a great venue... seats comfy... and lots of leg room. The entire evening was fantabulous... Jake is a great artist and musician; he wove a story that brought back many warm and wonderful memories of our life in metropolitan NY ... not from Brooklyn... but that did not matter! *
This event was a surprise - I didn't expect it
to be so good. It was better than good, it was
fantastic. Jake has such stage presence, he is
funny, talented and knows how to engage his
audience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. *
I loved this show, could have sat another hour at least!!! *
Everybody in the audience had similar story -sad and funny in the same time. My friends, my husband and I liked show a lot, even we were not born in Brooklyn or anywhere in United States - our children even were not born here. It was about me anyway - my grandparents and Jake's grandparents were speaking Yiddish.. Oy Vay. Thank you, Yankel'. *
Really liked the play. Took a girlfriend who had been having some struggles in her life and stated afterwards that she thoroughly enjoyed the play. Stories were heartfelt and his talent is amazing in its scope. Play was 90 minutes with no intermission, but you didn't need it, because it was so captivating that you didn't check the time. Glad I went! *
Enjoyed it very much. *
Great performance for a one man show, all good seats. Sells CDs and books after the show that he will sign too. *

This show captured the time span of the mid 1950's and 60’s growing up Jewish in Brooklyn, New York. Jake Ehrenreich is very, very , talented. Highly recommend this show. *

Born in New York, I could relate to all of the stories he told. Laughed a lot. Very entertaining. Glad I went. *

We really enjoyed this play. The performer is very talented and you were never bored. It is funny, but also touching. There is no intermission and you were so entertained you didn't miss it. *
This is a 'must see' performance for anyone who grew up in NYC during the '50's and 60's. Although Jake Ehrenreich's dialogue was based on his own experience in Brooklyn, everyone can relate to his memories, regardless of where they spent their youth. If you spent any time in the Catskills, this show will undoubtedly bring back fond memories. Jake holds your attention from the beginning, and the time just flies by. The venue is excellent, and parking is more than adequate. *
Most fantastic performance. Jake's story pulls the audience in so that you feel part of his family. It is deeply moving, and at the same time witty and humorous. I didn't want it to end. *
great entertainment and more--especially loved the touching stories about the values of Jake's dad. I enjoyed the audience participation *
This was an exceptional play. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Jake was amazing, entertaining, poignant, sincere, funny, sensitive, emotional and just fabulous. I'm getting tickets for my mom and daughter. *

It was great. I laughed and I cried and clapped and sang. *
It was fabulous! Saw it last night and haven't stopped raving yet. Telling everyone to see it. Just loved it. *
Very entertaining performance that combines vivid story telling, music, singing and a rare look back at entertainment in the Catskills. Jake does outstanding performance relating his upbringing combining various elements of singing, music and joke telling. I highly recommend this performance *
a must for Jews and friends/partners of Jews *
It was intimate, hilarious and moving. What a talent this man is. I've been talking about it all day. Go see it. *
A very entertaining show. Jake is very talented; he acts, sings and plays the trombone, trumpet and the drums. *
In addition to his likable and funny way of
telling stories he is an excellent singer, his
trumpet and drums performance was one of the
high lights...I think he did an excellent job
blending his Jewish heritage with the Christian
World which is always there around you in many
parts of your daily life, be it holidays or
other occasions. I think he should record his
"holiday" songs in addition to his "YIDDISH
Unplugged CD" His voice is great. *
We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. We both laughed and cried. He did a great job. Very talented actor. *
Jake does an amazing job conveying his family's experiences coming to and living in America. He uses music, comedy, and stories - both happy and not so happy. This is a wonderful, uplifting show about Jewish life in America. *
Very enjoyable and nostalgic show. Jake is multi talented and a joy to watch. *
Fantastic show, lots of belly laughs....highly recommend this to anyone who desires a great evenings entertainment. Jake Ehrenreich was sensational. * |
